A Sad Day for Norway

23 Jul

Norway was hit by a tragidy yesterday.

I don;t really know too many details (the article in the link above has them)

Someone bombed a government building in Oslo as a distraction. At least 7 people were killed.

While the police were distracted, the perp then travelled to an island retreat for young Labor party members, disguised himself as a police officer, went to the main building where everyone was gathered watching the news of the bombing, took out a machine gun, and opened fire. The kids there were as young as 14.

Around 92 people were killed. Most were killed as they were running to safety.

The police have a suspect.

Hoffsicle, anyone?

Behold…the HOFFSICLE!!!

Based on the star from things like Baywatch and Knight Rider David Hasselhoff, these popsicles, produced by Del Monte for Ice Cream Month, have the guy’s likeness from the waist up, flavored.

Or, to put it this way, a mini fruit-flavored version of a 59-year-old actor that is known more for his name than his acting skills.

Wonder what's next...a popsicle version of Chuck Norris?

Sure, you’re tough…

19 Jul

My dog likes to think he’s tough. He barks at literally every passing dog and person on the street outside the house.
Of course, this is the dog who is so scared of my 2 cats that if one of them is at the top of the stairs he won’t go near the staircase.

Lady Sylvia McCordle: Mr Weissman.
Morris Weissman: Yes?
Lady Sylvia McCordle: Tell us about the film you’re going to make.
Morris Weissman: Oh, sure. It’s called “Charlie Chan In London”. It’s a detective story.
Mabel Nesbitt: Set in London?
Morris Weissman: Well, not really. Most of it takes place at a shooting party in a country house. Sort of like this one, actually. Murder in the middle of the night, a lot of guests for the weekend, everyone’s a suspect. You know, that sort of thing.
Constance: How horrid. And who turns out to have done it?
Morris Weissman: Oh, I couldn’t tell you that. It would spoil it for you.
Constance: Oh, but none of us will see it.

Facebook vs. the Blog

19 Jul

Blogs are a way of expressing your feelings and thoughts online and to your friends and the general public. So is Facebook. So why choose a blog over Facebook?

Well, if on Facebook you wanted to rant about something, no one’s really gonna listen, while on a blog people will read and comment. Blogs allow you more freedom and more privacy, as the blog is not really in your name. It is your own creation, something that you can use in any way.

Also, on Facebook, there are a lot of creepy stalkers and whatnot.

There are cool Facebook terms, like ‘like’, ‘status’, and ‘chat’

I guess you could say blogs are kinda nerdier, with terms such as ‘blogosphere’. Try saying that in a room of ‘cool’ kids.

Besides, you can’t turn Facebook pages into blockbuster movies 😉
